Cultivating Family Traditions

People who don’t understand may think a tractor is just a machine, but to real tractor enthusiasts they practically become members of the family. Steve Douty remembers the old ’53 Farmall tractor that’s been in the family for generations. Steve’s grandfather, as matter of fact, was lucky enough to leave this earth doing what he loved best – tending to the land on his Farmall Cub.

When Steve’s grandfather died in 1973, the old tractor fell into rough times. It was a pretty typical story. Life got busy and time was short. While the old tractor was still capable of working, it didn’t receive the attention it deserved.

When Steve retired, he finally had the time to get to work on the tractor. It became his mission to bring the family’s Farmall back to its glory days. Once all the work was done, he had a beautiful red Farmall Cub that would have made his grandfather burst with pride.

There was more in store for this family legacy. Steve gave the tractor away as a wedding gift. His nephew and the bride were presented with the beautifully restored tractor. As a gift to a new generation, the tractor is sure to carry on a family tradition that is alive and well. Imagine how proud Steve’s grandfather would have been if he could have seen it.
